Bean Town

So we got a terrific Thursday flight in and were greeted at the T by one of the Wrenn Cousins. We met their lovely cat and had an in house burrito night. I topped mine with this corn salsa from Traders Joes (that I promptly picked up as soon as we got back to MD).
Friday was an awesome trail, the Freedom trail. We followed the red inlayed bricks through parks, cemeteries, Boston Massacre site, churches, Old South Meeting House, the Old State House and ended with the Paul Revere House. I enjoyed a lot of the grave sites, like where the inspiration of Hester from the Scarlet Letter is buried. During this historical exploring we came upon the most perfect bookstore. It was complete with a fireplace, cats, dusty old books and fancy new ones. We were elbow deep in the dusty old ones, a lot of sneezing from my end. After going back to home base in Jamaica Plains we cleaned up and went back to little Italy for some fine pasta and Mikey’s pastries.
Over the weekend we saw some awesome exhibits at the ICA. A very cute exhibit of downshot photos of rough water with foot notes and a cheeky tattoo exhibit by Dr. Lakra. I also had my first ever Lobster Roll washed down with some fine blueberry beer. Another sweet treat was J.P. Licks, had to include the ever necessary vacation ice cream cone.

Our last full day was started with a craft fair and many many cute bostons trotting along with the masters. Then we strolled Harvard to the law school, where I shook my fist at the Langsdale statue and all his silly ideas on how to teach the law. Enjoyed a street band and then went to a crazy brunch spot for our dinner called Friendly Toast … that is where I went too far. I ordered oddness for food and drink. I ordered Strangers on a Train (jack daniels, expresso vodka, red bull and M&Ms) along with the Old Miss' (texas toast with sweet potatoes on top, with sauage on top of that finally topped off with eggs and a mango habenero sauce). I regretted it on the spot, a bit much really.

We kissed their little Tiger goodbye and made our way back to MD. Good end of 3L trip.
