The Fabric of our lives

Next to a picture of my Alabama grandparents at their wedding, I used to have a little red vase with a branch of dried cotton in it. I have been thinking more about cotton recently.

It can be so pretty and simple. The Mr. wants the design and the feel of our wedding to have sentimental value, which may end up driving us insane but is a sweet thought, finding love in the details. I always really enjoyed the fields around my grandparents house. Maybe I will pick some up on my next trip down south and play with this idea a little more. A mason jar with a white velvet ribbon? I am also tossing around paper flowers and white poppies.
I am worried about this thing having no cohesion.

  1. My sister served French fries at her fairly formal, extremely swanky wedding. Cohesion is for suckers. Those little tubes with the cotton in them would make for really cute escort (name) tags, if you wrote names on a tag and then tied them around the neck of the bottles with some kind of twine or natural string/ribbon.
If you go with winter, you could always do a cotton bouquet - it's just fluffy enough to work! (Google image it - the results are really pretty.)
